Yet it possesses a rich and diverse wildlife within the National Nature Reserve in one of the largest shingle landscapes in the world.
There’s nothing quite like a ride on The Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway - so it’s little wonder that this is one of Kent's top tourist attractions! A journey on one of the small trains is a unique experience combining years of steam railway heritage with some of Kent's most picturesque countryside. The natural starting place for a journey on the RH&DR is at its station in the historic, pretty town of Hythe. It’s one of six along the track, which stretches 13.5 miles across the picturesque Romney Marsh to Dungeness.

After a trip to the stunning beach at Camber, you can't go wrong with a visit to the beautifully historic and scenic town of Rye just two miles from the sea and historically involved with smuggling, Rye was once an island! It's cobbled streets, historical buildings and lovely independent shops making it easy to spend several hours wandering the streets taking time to sit and eat lunch in one of it's many quaint Cafe's.
Just a little further along the coast you'll find the Historic Harbour of Hastings wander the preserved Old Town’s winding streets and tiny twittens, crammed with Tudor houses and flower-bedecked cottages, and inhale the hard-working fishing quarter with its towering net huts and ramshackle huts on the beach. On the seafront you'll find your favourite seaside amusements, including Flamingo Amusements and Playland as well as Hastings Aquarium and Hastings Miniature Adventure Golf Complex with three golf courses that also has great fish and chips, Italian ice cream, a café and is the home to the World Crazy Golf Championships every July!
